In June, volunteers from Church by the Glades and VOUS Church came together to create an unforgettable day for the residents of Villa Rio Vista Care Center. United by faith and compassion, they spent the afternoon building meaningful connections through two simple but powerful activities: Bingo and painting.
The room quickly filled with laughter and smiles as volunteers joined residents for rounds of Bingo—cheering each other on, celebrating wins, and making new friendships along the way. Afterward, they shifted to painting, where creativity flowed freely. Volunteers helped residents paint, and also presented their own hand-painted pieces as heartfelt gifts. These tokens of love brightened spirits and reminded everyone that even small gestures can carry deep meaning.
One resident shared, “I haven’t had this much fun in a long time. It feels like family came to visit.”
Moments like these remind us of the power of simply showing up—with a smile, a listening ear, and a willingness to share time. These visits not only bring joy to the elderly, but they also uplift the hearts of those who serve.
