Become a Volunteer

Did you know that the most vulnerable group of people to be affected by loneliness is the aging population?
The aging population is anyone over the age of 60 who lives in their home or currently resides in a care center.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, please follow the steps below to start the volunteer process.

Requirements to become a volunteer:

1.  Sign up – volunteers must create an account on the H2H Portal in order to gain full access to course materials and training.

Note: Please fill out ALL the registration page fields, including the “nickname field”. You must use a valid email which will be your username and enter a “strong” password. A strong password will have more than 8 characters, usually, this includes upper/lower case letters, special characters (Example; #@!*$>), and numbers.

2.  Submit an online application – once you create an account on the portal, you will receive an email with an invitation to activate your account. Once activated, you can to login into the portal and begin your online volunteer process. Log into the portal by clicking HERE

3. Complete all required online training – trainings must be completed before starting any volunteer service.

This consists of a series of videos, lasting 1-2 minutes each and a short quiz at the end. This can be completed within 30 minutes or less.

4. Complete a background check and volunteer orientation by scheduling an appointment with us at the H2H office.

As required by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA), volunteers providing face-to-face services to the elderly are required to undergo a Level II Background Check. All of these requirements are to better equip you as a volunteer and for the safety and protection of the elder population we serve. For your appointment, we ask that you bring or submit an $80 contribution online under “Fingerprints” to cover the cost of your background check. At the time of your orientation, you will be receiving a volunteer t-shirt, a lanyard and the opportunity to speak with our Outreach Coordinator about your areas of interest to serve lonely and isolated seniors.

We know that your time and talent can make a significant impact in the lives of the senior community in South Florida and so we look forward to meeting you and thank you for joining us on mission!
