January newsletter

At the beginning of January, we connected Community Christian Church to two care centers for their Youth Serve Event on an early Saturday morning. A group of 10 students met us at The W Pompano for a 2-hour game of BINGO – and if you know anything about bingo, it’s that residents love it. We also met with 20 students at Lenox on the Lake for a time of song trivia, dance, and storytelling. Remember to follow and like us on Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok!

What is Ageism and How Does it Affect Seniors?
How does Internal Ageism Affect Seniors?

Last Friday we participated in Westminster Academy’s High School Service Project Day! Seventy 10th-grade students were split between 2 Care Center facilities and had an opportunity to serve seniors! Some students were a part of maintenance tasks, such as cleaning windows or baseboards. Other students had the opportunity to assist in yoga class, speak directly with residents, and hear about their life stories! It was a great day! Volunteer of the Month: Sofia Weiner

After 12-hour shifts at work, Sofia Weiner would spend an hour of her evening sewing names to personalize donated blankets for seniors. She worked diligently until each senior in four different care centers had their own blanket, personalizing more than 100 blankets. We named her Volunteer of the Month for January 2023 because of her steady dedication and care. THANK YOU, Sofia!
